Laura N. Pott, B.S.

Ph.D. Student

I graduated with a B.S. in Human Health & Biology from the University of Oklahoma in 2021, where I developed an interest in ancient DNA through working at the Laboratories of Molecular Anthropology and Microbiome Research and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. I am currently a PhD student in Biological Anthropology and NSF Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Minnesota, working on a dissertation about human mitogenomic variation and natural selection in an Afro-descendant community in La Quebrada, Peru. My research interests include human population genomics, evolutionary health, and ancient DNA.I am from Colorado and outside of the lab I enjoy hiking, reading, and moss hunting.
