Jaime Zolik, M.A.

Ph.D. Student

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Minnesota. I received a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology and an M.A. in Applied Anthropology from the University of South Florida.

I am currently a part of a community-led project aimed at reconstructing the lives of African and Afro-descendant individuals from a historical 18th and 19th century burial who lived and worked at a colonial hacienda in La Quebrada, Peru.

My contribution to the project uses ancient DNA to investigate health by identifying traces of ancient pathogens and exploring biological kinship among the individuals. I also help develop multimedia tools to support meaningful community engagement.

Beyond the lab, I am passionate about science communication. I create videos, animations, and other multimedia resources to share research findings with diverse audiences.
